James D. Boyce, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Comprehensive Ophthalmology

James BoyceServing Orange County for over 20 years, Dr. Boyce actually grew up on the East Coast and attended college and medical school at Columbia. He moved to Southern California to complete an internship at USC, and then returned to Columbia to finish residency at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute. After residency he returned to Southern California, where he has served as President of both the Orange County and Los Angeles Ophthalmological Societies, and President of the Garden Grove Rotary Club. For 12 years, he was the ophthalmologist for the Los Angeles Rams football team. Dr. Boyce practices comprehensive ophthalmology, including the treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. He actively teaches at USC as a clinical instructor.

Norman H. Liu, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Corneal and Refractive Surgery

Norman LiuBorn in Taiwan, Dr. Liu moved to the U.S.A. at a young age and grew up in Irvine, California. He completed his B.A. in Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Summa cum Laude and was selected for the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He moved back to California to earn an M.D. at UC San Francisco, complete internship at UC Irvine, and finish residency at the Doheny Eye Institute/USC. He then completed a fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at UC Irvine. Along the way, Dr. Liu has conducted and published many research projects. He specializes in cataract surgery, corneal disease and transplant, and LASIK. He also speaks Mandarin and Spanish.

David B. Samimi, M.D.

Oculofacial and Cosmetic Surgery

Dr. Samimi is a Southern California native, born and raised in Los Angeles. He completed his bachelor's degree in Economics at UCLA where he received summa cum laude honors. He obtained his M.D. degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA followed by internship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Samimi then completed his ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute http://www/bascompalmer.org. He went on to complete an additional two years of training in oculofacial plastic surgery at Eyesthetica, one of the few prestigious fellowships sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Samimi has lectured at regional and national conferences, published numerous articles and book chapters and currently teaches surgery at the LA County USC Medical Center. He specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face. Dr. Samimi also speaks Spanish and Farsi.

Ryan Taban, M.D.

Medical and Surgical Treatment of Glaucoma, Cataract Surgery, General Ophthalmology

Dr. Ryan Taban, M.D. is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Ophthalmologist who specializes in Cataract and Glaucoma surgery. He provides comprehensive eye care ranging from complete medical eye exams to complex anterior segment surgery. He also is a Glaucoma Specialist, utilizing the latest diagnostic and surgical techniques to treat complex Glaucoma patients.

Dr. Taban earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from UCLA, where he was a Cum Laude graduate and member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. He received his medical degree with multiple honors from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Summa Health System in Ohio, where he served as Chief Resident.

Following his residency, Dr. Taban completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at the internationally renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. There, he received specialized training in advanced surgical techniques to treat Cataracts and Glaucoma.Dr. Taban was a clinical instructor in the UCLA Ophthalmology department, training medical students and residents in the medical and surgical management of Glaucoma. He was honored as the Allergan Glaucoma Fellow and Vernon O. Underwood Family Fellow for his achievements at Jules Stein.

Dr. Taban was named to the Super Doctors 2013 and 2014 Southern California Rising Stars list, which honors the top 2.5 percent of young physicians in the area. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Taban uses the latest technology and methods to provide general and specialty eye care to his patients.
